I’ve tried this dish multiple times, but it’s never THIS good. The best!

Ground Beef & Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes is one of those classic comfort foods that remind me of cozy family dinners. It’s a hearty, satisfying dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights when you need something quick but still delicious. This recipe has been a staple in my family for years, and it’s one of those meals that just feels like a warm hug on a plate. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll understand why it’s a favorite.
This dish goes beautifully with a side of steamed green beans or a crisp garden salad to balance out the richness of the gravy. If you have a bit more time, homemade dinner rolls or some roasted carrots would make this meal even more special. And for a simple dessert, consider a light and refreshing fruit salad.

Ground Beef & Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes
Servings: 4

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
4 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or prepared)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Directions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
3. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well, cooking for another minute to get rid of the raw flour taste.
4. Gradually stir in the beef broth, making sure to mix well to prevent lumps. Add the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
6. While the gravy is simmering, prepare your mashed potatoes if you haven’t already. You can use your favorite homemade recipe or even store-bought for convenience.
7. To serve, spoon a generous portion of the beef and gravy mixture over a bed of mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Variations & Tips
For a lighter version, you can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. If you prefer a richer gravy, add a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of sour cream. To make this meal even heartier, add some cooked mushrooms, peas, or carrots into the gravy. And if you’re a fan of spicy foods, a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce can add an extra kick.
