Southern Style Cheeseburger Pie!!!

Growing up in the South, weeknight dinners were all about comfort, flavor, and using what you had on hand. This Southern Style Cheeseburger Pie brings back memories of my mama pulling together a hearty meal in one skillet and a pie dish, no fuss. It was always the kind of dinner that made everyone come running to the table — warm, cheesy, and satisfying.

She’d brown the beef while chatting with us kids about our day, then mix up the simple batter that would bake into a golden crust right on top. The smell of cheddar and beef wafting through the house was the sure sign that supper was almost ready. It’s one of those timeless dishes that feels like a hug on a plate — easy to make, and always gone in minutes.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, diced

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup flour

2 large eggs

1 tsp mustard (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat, then add the diced onion and cook until softened.

Season the beef mixture with salt, pepper, and mustard (if using).

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, mayonnaise, flour, and eggs until smooth.

Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in the pie crust, then pour the milk mixture over the top.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.

Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Note:
This cheeseburger pie is incredibly versatile — you can add chopped pickles, crumbled bacon, or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture for extra flavor. Want a lower-carb version? Skip the crust and bake it as a crustless casserole. It also reheats beautifully, making it perfect for leftovers or meal prep.
