Thought my nana’s recipe was gone forever. Found it, and it’s even more delicious

 

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the filling:
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
For the glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together shortening and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract.
3. Gradually add all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the filling. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
6. Carefully spread the remaining batter over the cinnamon filling.
7. Use a knife to gently swirl the batter and filling together, creating a marbled effect.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
