Ingredients:
Ingredient Quantity
All-purpose flour 2 cups
Baking powder 1 tablespoon
Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Shredded cheddar cheese 1 cup
Buttermilk 1 cup
Melted butter 1/4 cup
Large eggs 2
Garlic powder (optional) 1 teaspoon
Dried herbs (optional) 1 teaspoon (rosemary or thyme)
Instructions:
Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
Whisk the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and garlic powder (if using).
Incorporate the Cheese: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it’s evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture.
Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Avoid overmixing; a few lumps are okay. If using dried herbs, gently fold them in now.
Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy this Cheesy Quick Bread warm or at room temperature.
